For the March 26th, 2020, issue of The Hollywood Reporter, we put the spotlight on a pair of stylish watch trends: black-on-black timepieces for women, and Milanese bracelets for men. This selection of “little black dress” watches for women is comprised of chic pieces from Hermès, Chanel, Dior, the first women’s watch by MB&F — the Legacy Machine FlyingT with its offset dial and domed crystal — and an H. Moser & Cie watch that showcases the depth and beauty of Vantablack.
On the men’s side, while Milanese bracelets — which can be traced to the 19th century, but were especially popular in the 1970s — have been making increased appearances in timepiece launches, one watch in particular vaulted the trend onto everyone’s radar this spring: the latest James Bond limited-edition watch by Omega, the Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition, which comes with both a Milanese bracelet and a striped NATO strap. The watch originally was timed for release to coincide with the premiere of No Time to Die, but stay-at-home orders due to COVID-19 have pushed the film’s release from April to November. The buzz around the watch, however, didn’t wait, with many pre-orders in place from timepiece and Bond fans alike. Look for the watch to enjoy a second debut when No Time to Die finally hits theaters.
